Assignment 1

This document provides instructions for an assignment to analyze hydrological data from a river over 26 weeks. It includes: 1) Plotting a hydrograph, flow duration curve, and power duration curve from the discharge data. 2) Identifying the 10%, 50%, and 80% occurrence discharges and discussing design discharge criteria. 3) Calculating firm and secondary power/energy based on the firm discharge being the 100% occurrence value and design discharge as 50% occurrence, adding the student's roll number to the firm power requirement. 4) Calculating the storage volume required to increase firm power to 450 MW plus the student's roll number for all 26 weeks.

Other data:
Net Head (H) = 120 m
Conveyance efficiency (conveyance) = 70%
Turbine efficiency=85%
Generator efficiency=80%

Plot Hydrograph.
Plot Flow duration curve.
Plot Power duration curve.
Plot the 10% of the time occurring discharge in the hydrograph.
Plot the 80% of the time occurring discharge in the hydrograph.
Plot the 50% of the time occurring discharge in the hydrograph.
Write the discussion about choosing the design 10%, 50% and 80%
occurrence discharge.
By taking the firm discharge as 100% of time occurring discharge and design
discharge as 50% of time occurring discharge, calculate the firm and
secondary (in GW) in the tabular form.
Calculate Firm and Secondary energy (in GWh) for the period of 26 weeks in
the tabular form.

If the firm power is required to be increased to [450 MW + (Roll Number)] for

that all period of 26 weeks, calculate the volume of storage required
