Task 5 Research into similar music magazines

The other genres of magazine I could have chosen out of would have been
R&B, pop or rock.
R&B
The magazine that I would have chosen if I was to choose the genre R&B would
have been the Vibe magazine. This is because it mainly focuses on the genre and
is popular with the target market.

Vibe magazine includes many different R&B and hiphop artists in this case Trey Songz (a very popular
artist in this genre). I would base my magazine
around this issue as it has aspects to it that appeal to
me for example the colour scheme and the layout of
the magazine. Everything has its own place to show
its important for example the main focus of the main
image is to show off the artist. Vibe magazine is also
very popular with its genre and target audience and
many popular artists tend to be on the cover.

Pop
The magazine I would choose to base my magazine around if I was to do the pop
genre would be Top of the Pops. This is because it is a
well-known magazine in the industry and is also well
known as a whole.

This magazine is targeted as young-mid teenagers as


it has used bright and many colours. The page is
filled with font and images reflecting the audience.
They have used the well-known artist Rita Ora as she
is very popular in that genre and can be seen as a
role model to the younger girls.

Rock
The magazine I would have focused to recreate is I was to do the rock genre
would be NME. This is because it is a popular
magazine in the genre and I am attracted to the
layout and colour scheme used in the magazines as
it is simple and easy to the eye. The NME magazine
doesnt necessarily just do the mainstream rock
artists as it has a wide target audience (advantage)
which means they include a range of rock artists.
This NME issue is very simple and eye catching for
the audience as it uses very bold colour which show
of each features differently. Most rock magazines
would be very busy and bright which makes this
different and in my eyes more attractive.
