Virtualization Introduction

This document provides an introduction and overview of virtualization. It discusses the definition of virtualization as creating virtual versions of hardware resources, and that server virtualization allows running multiple virtual machines on a single physical machine by sharing resources. The document outlines different types of virtualization including server, desktop, application, storage and network virtualization. It also discusses key virtualization architecture components and features such as live migration, high availability, and cloning. Benefits mentioned include reduced space and power usage, centralized management, and lower costs.

you run multiple virtual machines on a single
physical machine with each virtual machine
sharing the resources of that one physical
computer
