Band Director/Instructor

Primary Purpose:
Direct and managed the overall program of Band music for the district. Provide students
with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities and district
requirements. Plan activities to achieve district, region and state recognition.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:


Program Planning

Direct youth instrumental performers, such as marching band, concert band and
ensembles.
Establish performance requirements and verify each students eligibility to participate
in band.
Provide the band participation at extracurricular events, including concerts, parades
and municipal activities.
Recommend policies to improve program.

Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.


Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and
equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students
assigned.
Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal
testing.

Apply and enforce student discipline in accordance with the Municipal Code of
Conduct.
Accompany and supervise students on out-of-town trips.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment,
materials and facilities.

Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, buying of scores and storing all band
equipment.
