Canyon Del Oro High
School About me: My name is Eva Toussaint. I was born and raised in Tucson. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona. I am currently working on my Masters in Education and Teacher Certification through Teach Arizona, an accelerated one year program. I coach gymnastics and love playing soccer. I play on three different city leagues. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my family, hanging out with friends, running, shopping, and watching movies. Expectations and Class Rules: Every student that enters class will Be prepared for class (completed homework, appropriate materials, calculator, etc) Be respectful towards other students opinions, questions, and learning Be punctual Practice good and safe behavior (pertaining to lab and the equipment and chemicals being used) Consequences: Negative Warning Lunch Detention Office Referral Call Home Positive Praise and encouragement Phone call/email to parents Opportunity to drop one quiz Class Party Unit Overview:
Unit 6 Chemical Bonding
Unit 7 Liquids, Solids, and Solutions Unit8 Kinetics Unit 9 General Equilibrium Unit 10 Acids and Bases Unit 11 Buffers, Ksp and Titrations Unit 12 Thermodynamics Unit 14 Electrochemistry Grading: Unit Exams and Daily Quizzes Students will be assessed by taking daily quizzes on the assigned screen cast. You will be able to use your notes on these quizzes so it is important that you take complete and accurate notes. If you are tardy you will receive a zero on the quiz. In addition, students will be taking an exam at the conclusion of each unit. The tests and quizzes will make up 40% of the final semester grade. Laboratory There are several labs recommended for AP Chemistry by the College Board. In addition to completing the lab and writing a lab report students are required to keep a lab notebook to take with them to college. Labs missed that are required by College Board must be made up by appointment only. The labs will make up 25% of the final semester grade Classwork Activities, POGIL, Essential Questions, Problem Sets, Projects and Mastering Chemistry assignments will count for the remaining 25% of your grade. Problem sets will be assigned for each unit. They must be completed as assigned. Points will not only be given based on work completed but also effective use of class time. Although you are allowed to work collaboratively on the majority of assigned work it goes without saying that copying will not be tolerated and will result in a zero for that assignment. Class Procedures: Tardy students who are tardy hurt their grade; they will not be able to make up or receive extra time on the daily quiz. Absent This course mimics a college level course. Therefore, it is the students responsibility to find out what they missed on the days they were
absent. They should also collect any missed assignments from the assignment folder found at the front. Contact Me: Email: [email protected] Phone: 520-696-5629
