Course Outline

Course Description:

This course is aimed to help students develop a greater understanding of business operations, social economic
factors affecting businesses and how businesses maintain themselves. Students will learn through case studies
and business scenarios to enable understanding of concepts regarding business success and failure. There will
be group work, presentations, and case scenarios such as designing, creating, and presenting to a panel of
judges (investors). You will be creating business plans, carrying out product research, analyzing business
strategies and practicing sales techniques.

This course is based heavily on participation but also consists of assignments, a mid-term test and a final
written test. It is expected that you will contribute ideas, strategies, and support to the group via participation
in and outside of the classroom.
Entrepreneurship 12 is a hands-on course that requires creativity, ideas, cooperation, and research. It will also
help to prepare for business courses in further education.

Expectations of the students in the labs:

Students will:
a) Be present, on time and motivated
b) Be respectful of all students
c) Be respectful of the property in the room
d) No computer games or other non-appropriate use of computers (You-Tube, Facebook etc)
e) No online messaging service allowed during class time
f) No food, gum or drinks are allowed in the class
Any student who disregards these guidelines will see their access to the computers and labs being restricted
which could result in them failing the course.

Computer Lab Policies and Procedures

Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is appropriate to a computer lab. Students have
access during their selected courses and at the discretion of the instructor during the school day. Flex time will
be available for those needing extra time to complete projects or just wish to expand their knowledge.

Attendance

This course requires in-class work, which makes attendance crucial. If a class is missed, a note is required from
a parent of a guardian explaining the absence. Students are responsible to make up and missed assignments or
tests. Unauthorized absences may result in the student receiving no marks for assignments or tests missed.
Unauthorized absences and coming late to class will also affect the students participation grade.

Lateness

Persistent lateness is not acceptable and lost time will be made up at lunch time, before or after school.
Section 10 of the BC School Act
If the property of the School Board is destroyed, damaged, lost or converted by the intentional or negligent
act of a student, the student and the students parents are jointly and severely liable to the Board with respect
to the act of the student.
