Q A-2 (Length - Period Pendulum)

This document contains the details of an experiment to determine the relationship between the length (l) of a pendulum and its period of oscillation (T). It includes: 1) A checklist of the required apparatus - including a retort stand, meter rule, stopwatch, bob, thread, wooden blocks, and protractor. 2) The aim to determine the relationship between l and T. 3) The procedure which involves measuring the time for 20 oscillations at different pendulum lengths and calculating T and T2. 4) Questions about stating a hypothesis, identifying manipulated/responding/constant variables, and tabulating the experimental data.

Remark ( / )

Aim
The aim of this experiment is to determine the relationship between length ,l and period of
oscillation, T of pendulum.
Prosedure
1. Arrange the apparatus as figure 1.

2. Adjust the thread so that the length,l from the centre of the bob to the point of
suspension is 20.0cm.
3. Displaced the bob to the side and allowed to oscillate at small angle.
4. Measure time,t for 20 oscillation with a stopwatch.
5. Calculate period of oscillation T=t/20 .
6. Calculate the square of period of oscillation, T2.
7. Repeat the process for l=30.0cm, 40.0cm, 50.0cm and 60.0cm.
