Abstract Arse P 2008

This document proposes an automatic method for detecting changes between diffusion-weighted MRI scans to monitor the evolution of multiple sclerosis lesions over time. It applies a generalized likelihood ratio test that accounts for non-stationary noise in the images. Validation involved simulating lesion appearances in real data, finding the method significantly reduces false detections by considering noise non-stationarity. The goal is to provide an objective way to characterize MS lesion evolution, especially in normal-appearing white matter, and study disease effects on brain connectivity.
