Op Amp Application - Electroniclect-11

This document is about lecture 11 from an NPTEL course on analog circuits. It discusses two applications of operational amplifiers: 1) An analog inverter and scale changer circuit. The circuit inverts the input voltage if Rf=Rin, or scales it by a constant if Rf/Rin is a constant. 2) An inverting summer circuit that sums three input voltages va, vb, and vc. The output voltage is inverted and depends on the values of the input resistors and voltages.

Lecture - 11: Applications of Operational Amplifiers

Analog Inverter and Scale Changer:

The circuit of analog inverter is shown in fig. 1. It is same as inverting voltage amplifier.

Assuming OPAMP to be an ideal one, the differential input

voltage is zero.
i.e. v = 0
d

Therefore, v = v = 0

Since input impedance is very high, therefore, input current

is zero. OPAMP do not sink any current.

If R = R then v = -v , the circuit behaves like an inverter.
