. Overview
The LA76931 is an integrated circuit for a PAL/NTSC TV. It consists of two pieces of IC
chip in one package, using Multi-Chip-Package technology. One is a MCU and the other is a
single processor for a color TV. The chip is masked according to the software that is discovered by
our company. This software number is 56S8. It can be used in the TV from lower to higher classis.
The hardware characteristic of this CPU LC8637XX that is in LA76931 and the brief introduction
of the function that software has are shown below.

(LA72700 or TDA9850) is detected. Only the MONO is displayed if the sound signal is

1) Function: to enter the PICTURE, AUDIO, OPTION, CLOCK and PRESET menu. Use user
remote controller to enter factory mode.

4) Instruction of PICTURE menu:
In the PICTURE menu, press PICTURE key to select circularly every option. And the
CH+/CH- key can be used to select the option. The option that has the cursor is the selected
option, and the OSD of this option is red, the others are cyan.
The VOL+/ VOL key is used to change the value, the current result is shown with OSD and
digital. Each value of option is divided into 100-steps. If value is MAX(100) step then more
up the VOL+ key is ignored. If value is MIN(0) step then more down the VOL- key is
ignored.
The option of CORING and Black Stretch can be set to ON or OFF.
The value is automatically written into EEPROM.
Exit automatically menu when any operation is not executed over ten seconds.

In the SYSTEM menu, the CH+ or CH- key is used to select the options of menu, the option

After pressing the MENU key to enter the menu of PRESET, the CH+ or CH- key is used to
select the options of menu, the option that has the cursor is the selected option, and the OSD

The operation of voltage Synthesizer or normal frequency synthesizer:
1. Fine: the OSD is red in the process of search, the OSD is cyan when search is finished.
2. Manual search: the search is stop when one program is searched. The VOL+/- key is used to
change the search way. Pressing the MENU or AUTO key can stop the search.
3. Auto search: the color system and sound system of position is the same as the position that
had been watched when the auto search is finished.
4. The position that has been set to REMEMBER OFF is skipped when pressing the CH+/key to change the position. The position that has been set to REMEMBER OFF is red if
pressing the --or 0~9key to change the position.
5. The AFT function is shut off when this position has been fined, and the OSD of this position
is yellow when this position is selected.
The operation of America special synthesizer:
1. The position that has been set to SKIP OFF is skipped when pressing the CH+/- key to
change the position. The position that has been set to SKIP OFF is red if pressing the --or
0~9key to change the position.
2. The input signal is AIR or CABLE when the CATV BAND is set to 0 in the adjustment
menu8. The input signal is CATV(STD) or CATV(HRC) or CATV(IRC) when the CATV
BAND is set to 1 in the adjustment menu8.
The PRESET menu automatically exits when any operation is not executed over ten seconds.

The FACTORY mode is stored in EEPROM that is auto cleared when the TV is restart.
The FACTORY mode is used in the aging process of product.
At factory mode, the CH+ or CH- key is used to select the options of menu. The VOL+, VOL

There isnt the PROD key in the using normal remote. Please refer to the chapter 6-4 that is
the operation of set factory adjustment.

antenna is cable, then the search is end. The program number is from 2 to 69, then the
search is end.
The program number is auto skip to the minimum position, and the picture state is auto set to
NORMAL, the volume is auto set to 15 when the auto-search is finished.

3.During service time, the LINE mode is used to adjust approximately the B/W balance.
a) At the B/W balance mode, press the MUTE key to enter the Line state; press the MUTE
key again, the LINE state return to full screen state. If the LINE MODE is set to
1, the line mode will be influenced by the picture content. When entering the line
state, the picture is automatically set to factory1 state, the output value of every
option is 0. When the LINE state turn into full screen state, the picture is
automatically set to factory 2 state, the value of bright and contrast is set to 100,
the other output value is set to 0. If the LINE MODE is set to 0, the bright is
fixed. The picture mode is not changed from LINE mode to FULL mode.
b) At the LINE mode, the eight keys of normal remote-control unit are acceptable except
the MUTE key. But the functions are changed as the followings.

6-5.Screen function
The screen function is realized when the SCREEN OPT. is set to related value. The waiting time
of blank screen (SCREEN TIME) is set according to the different CRT. The setup mark is
displayed in the process of waiting if the screen function has been set. If the screen left side isnt
covered, please set the OSD H.POSI. in the adjustment to the proper position. The hardware
need be changed to produce the phase pulse of CPU if the best state isnt set. The screen function
is not used if the screen is not adjusted.
