Timothy Masters was 15 years old in 1987 when Peggy Lee Hettrick was murdered. In 1998, Masters was charged with her murder despite another potential suspect. Appeals upheld his conviction in 2001-2002. In 2008, DNA testing showed another man's DNA and Masters' conviction was overturned. Timothy Masters

1987-Peggy Lee Hettrick was murdered


Found in a field stabbed to death
Timothy Masters' mother was recently
deceased
When Masters' saw Hettrick's body, he
thought it was a mannequin, put there by
someone pulling a horrible prank on him
because of his mother's death
Timothy Masters was 15 at the time of the
murder

1998- Timothy Masters charged with murder


Police spent 11 years building a case,
ignoring another possible suspect- an ex
boyfriend of Hettrick's who had a history of
voyeurism, but DNA proved the ex-boyfriend
was innocent as well.

Appeals in 2001 and 2002 upheld


the murder conviction
DNA testing in 2008 showed
another man's DNA, and Masters'
conviction is overturned
Masters' wins $10 Million settlement
The murder of Peggy Hettrick
