Definition of Leadership
Definition of Leadership
Leadership is a winning combination of personal traits and the ability to think and
act as a leader, a person who directs the activities of others for the good of all.
Anyone can be a leader, even if the only person they're leading is themselves
Twenty years ago, our understanding of leadership in organizations was dominated
by the classic two-factor approach focusing on task and relationship behaviors.
Nowadays, leadership is defined in terms of the traits, behaviors, influence of an
individual who direct the activities of a group or an organization. We define
leadership as an interpersonal influence process of setting direction and inspiring
others to achieve goals.
Role
Leadership is the art of mobilizing others toward shared aspirations. Leaders must
take care of all stakeholders: owners, managers, other employees, customers,
suppliers, the government, the community, etc., in order to promote overall welfare
A leader steps up in times of crisis, and is able to think and act creatively in
difficult situations. Unlike management, leadership cannot be taught, although it
may be learned and enhanced through coaching or mentoring. Someone with great
leadership skills today is Bill Gates who, despite early failures, with continued
passion and innovation has driven Microsoft and the software industry to success.
As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower
others
The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you.
In between the two, the leader must become a servant and a debtor. That sums up
the progress of an artful leader Max DePree
The definition is the same in spite of the time
CONCLUSION
Leaders need to demonstrate character, communicate clearly, coach frequently,
execute for results and always lead by example.
Clearly, the success of Microsoft was not due to luck. It is thanks to the great merit
of Bill Gates and his talent. Gates has appeared like a "phenomenon" magic in the
world media, and even he is seen as the architect for the digital era of humanity.
