Automated Electricity Board Power Meter Reading System: Abstract

This document proposes an automated electricity board power meter reading system. It would involve installing transmitting devices within home electricity boxes that send readings to nearby receiver units fixed to lamp posts. The lamp posts would then transfer the readings through wires or WiFi to a computer system with software. This software would maintain an automatically updating database of readings for each home. It would also upload data to a web portal so customers could check their readings anytime and pay bills online. Abstract: Nowadays the EB power meter reading can take manually by one person employed
by EB office. If our house is closed means that person can't take reading. In Indian EB system,
we need to pay for the last month readings for the current month without considering the units.
So the customers facing many problems in these situations. I propose one innovative method,
here the EB officer can take every house EB reading from their office itself .Using this system
the customer can see their EB reading at any time. To implement this project we should install
one transmitting device that is embedded within the EB power box in home. It will get the
approximate reading. The receiver units are fixed with the lamp post and these lamp posts are
placed continuously with some distances over the EB office. The transmitters route or forward
the readings to the neighbor one. The lamp post which is nearer to the EB office transfer or
broadcast the reading through wire (cables) or wireless (Wi-Fi) to the computer system installed
with one software. In this method the EB officer should maintain the database that is
automatically updated whenever it receives the signal from nearby receiver. This database
includes each house details with their EB power box number.And this software is uploading the
data to the web portal developed for implementing this project.Using this software the customer
can see their EB reading at any timeand the customer can pay the money by online. If we use this
system we can save the time and reduce the man power and employment to the government.
