PTA President's Message

Hello Adams Eagles!
Happy New Year! There is something rejuvenating about a New Year! I hope we make the best of 2015 and
the adventures that lie ahead!
Speaking of which, PLEASE join us for our PTA meeting Monday, January 12th at 4:00 PM in the library.
(Jan. 19th is Martin Luther King Day so we moved it up a week!) We will be discussing Board changes for the
2015/16 school year and would love to have everyone involved! Come ask questions about any PTA position
you are curious about. It is a great opportunity to serve as a committee member of the PTA. Our PTA wouldn't
run without involved, amazing parents such as yourselves! I hope to see you there!!
A HUGE Thanks you to everyone who participated in our Adams Service Project: Coins for Christmas. We
raised a whopping $682.00 from all of your generous donations. Youth Futures Utah was blown away!!! They
were extremely grateful for us taking on their organization and helping them make a safe haven for homeless
teens in Utah. It sure started off my holiday season with a boost. Thank you!
Thank you to all who came out to Dads and Doughnuts! Becky Taylor and her committee did an amazing
job!! It was a great turn out and it's fun to see everyone so excited to sit down and spend a few minutes with
the father figure in their life. It has also been great to see so many Watch D.O.G.S. at our school!! Thank you
so much for your time!
We have our Book Fair, Read-a-Thon, Teacher Appreciation, Field Day, and our Spring event coming up in
the next few months! Thank you for your continued support and service in making these events come to pass.
I really appreciate our PTA board and all of the wonderful activities they put on for our students, staff, and
community. We really have a great PTA!
Again, Happy New Year! Please contact me with any questions or concerns you have!
Jackie Malan

please contact your students teacher to get them on the list to be screened.

Book Fair
The Under the Sea book fair is coming up Monday January 26th to Friday January 30th. The book
fair hours are Monday 10-5, Tuesday/Wednesday 10-7, Thursday 10-4, and Friday 10-2. Look for
more information to come home with your students. We are always looking for moms, dads, aunts,
uncles, or grandparents to help at the book fair. It's fun to see all of the books and to be able to work
with the students. If interested contact Karen Larsen at 801-698-6045 or [email protected].
We give money in scholastic dollars to spend at the book fair for every 2 hours you volunteer.

Teacher Dinners
SEP conference is almost here and we would love to treat our teachers to some yummy
dinners. We have a meal plan coming up and we will be putting it on sign up genius
soon. If you would like to help with this please email Claudine Brinkerhoff at
[email protected]. Thank you!!

The Box Tops Snowball fight is here!

Collect your box tops and turn them in on a collection sheet or in a plastic bag with your
name and your teacher's name on it. For every 10 box tops you turn in, you get a paper
snowball to add to our snowball fight wall! Help us reach our goal of 10,000 box tops for
the month of January!

Yearbook Cover Contest

As we begin the last half of the school year, it is time once again for the Yearbook Cover Contest and every student is
encouraged to participate.
This year we will have TWO winners! One will grace the front of the yearbook and the other will take its place on the
back.
Please follow the guidelines below for your submission:
The theme for this year is Creating Magic The Adams Way
Original artwork must be drawn by the child.
Use ONLY 8 12 x 11 plain white paper.
Allowable mediums include markers, crayons, color pencils, or color pens.
As much as possible, artwork must take up 90% of the page.
Tracing is highly discouraged as this will disqualify the entry.
The deadline for all submissions is Friday January 09, 2015. Your child should submit their work to their respective
teachers and not to the office staff. Each teacher will have an envelope in their classroom for this purpose. Make sure
your students name, grade, and teacher is written clearly on the back of their work as last year we had some which
were anonymous. In order to remove bias, all entries will be judged by a panel of 6 persons not associated with Adams
Elementary students, staff or teachers.
Should you have questions please call Diane Kelsey @ 801.337.0447 or Beta Rappleye @ 801.633.7567

Birthday Table
The next birthday table will be Friday, January 23rd. If your child has a birthday in January, have them
stop by the birthday table during lunch recess to receive a gift.

Recycling
Our school earns money for everything that is placed in our recycling bins. Please save all of your
paper and cardboard and place them in our recycling bins. You can even place large cardboard boxes
in the bins. Just make sure to break down them down first. It's an easy way to help the school earn
some extra cash!

School Spirit
Every Friday is School Spirit Day! Wear your school colors or your Adams Eagles T-Shirt. Prizes will be given out to
students who participate.
