Function - The Sect If Ordered Pairs of Numbers (X, Y) in Which No Two Distinct Ordered Pairs Have The

This document defines and provides examples of functions and operations on functions. It discusses: - The definition of a function as a set of ordered pairs with each first element (x-value) paired with only one second element (y-value). - Piecewise functions defined using more than one expression. - Common operations on functions like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. - Composite functions defined as the composition of two functions. - Even and odd functions, where even functions are symmetric to the y-axis and odd functions are symmetric to the origin.

Function the sect if ordered pairs of numbers ( x, y) in which no two distinct ordered pairs have the

same first number. The set of all admissible values of x is called the domain of the function
and the set of all resulting values of y is called the range of the function.
x is the independent variable
y is the dependent variable
A vertical line will intersect the graph of the function in at most 1 point.
Piecewise defined function
- One that is defined using more than one expression.
