Learning Objectives:
Standard 6.4e: Students know differences in pressure, heat, air movement, and humidity result in changes in weather.
-Students will engage the content and understand the composition of the atmosphere through their interactive notebook.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RST.6-8.5: Analyze the structure an author uses to organize a text, including how the major sections contribute to the whole
and to an understanding of the topic.
-Students will dissect information from the text to create their interactive notebook.
Anticipatory Set: Building a new interactive notebook which will be far more organized and fun to create!
Instruction: (Plan how you will help to build understanding and provide closure. This usually includes guided and independent practice.)
Running Clock
2:06-2:20

Teacher Action
-Teacher greets class. Teacher states objectives of the
day and displays the new notebook. Teacher
explains benefits and proceeds direct instruction on
how to construct the notebook. As students copy
down information from the notebook, teacher takes
attendance.

Student Action
-Students greet teacher and view the new
interactive notebook. Students listen to
benefits and begin setting up their notebooks.
Students write down Table of contents and
new lesson objectives.

2:21-2:52

-Teacher asks students to explain a perfect vocab box


and perfect c-notes. Teacher randomly calls on
students to explain the perfect vocab box and cntoes. Teacher then instructs students to complete
Chapter 7 Section 1 in their new interactive
notebooks. Teacher monitors student work and
moves across the classroom for individual attention.

-Students listen and explain the perfect vocab


box. Students are then called on to explain the
perfect C-notes. Students then begin working
on Chapter 7 Section 1 Vocab boxes and Cnotes.

2:51-2:52

Teacher plays clean-up song (Password theme song)


and instructs students to complete this section
tonight.

Students react to song and prepare to leave


the classroom. Students will then complete
the assignment at home.

Materials Needed
-Elmo
-notebook
-textbook
-pencil
-crayons
-markers

Assessment: (How will you know students have achieved the learning objectives? What evidence will you look for and collect?) Teacher will
review notebooks the next day to verify their ability to assess the information from Chapter 7 Section 1. The teacher will look for key terms
explained thoroughly through imagery and writing. Students will also dissect the section looking for key information and processing this
information into Cornell notes.
