GENERAL NOTES
Unless you use the GrayFace patch: Do not use "ALWAYS RUN" mode: this slows melee fighting by 25% and ranged by 30%, even if standing still
Use items to boost misc. skills: Disarm Trap, ID Item, and Alchemy. Only the highest item counts (no stacking)
Keep stat boosting items for Contests; do not sell immediately
Buying and selling: sell in Stone City for best prices (after returning the Dwarves) for all items netting 40% above Harmondale; otherwise sell in
Harmondale and then Erathia/Tularean
Sell (and buy items and skills) with Merchant and Trader (not Duper) to maximize gold
Harmondale gives 15% more gold than Erathia/Tularean and 40% more than Avlee
A Trader adds to Merchant: 6.5% in Harmondale, 7.5% in Erathia/Tularean, and 9.3% in Avlee
Hire a Banker (cost is 1000 gp) to pick-up loot for an extra 10% net if you expect to collect more than 11k gp in gold
No need to get Expert or Master Learning; Novice level 1 (+10% xp's for monsters killed) is actually fine for the entire game
There are a huge number of xp's in the game! There are no Instructors in Harmondale; get in Tularean, Erathia, Tatalia or Nighon
However: Breakeven of Expert4 in Learning vs Novice1 is at level 26 (possibly worth it); Breakeven of Master7 vs Expert4 in Learning is at level 45 (you
won't be needing the extra skill points > level 45!)
Finalizing a quest with a Teacher or Instructor does not give extra xp's
The best early item is a ring, cloak or gauntlets of mana regeneration (give to Cleric) e.g. "of the Eclipse"
Next best item is "of Disarming" skill for safer disarming of locked chests!
Stores restock items every month. Check the re-stocking date by buying all the items and a message will appear
Keyboard: Use Arrow keys; strafe holding Shift+arrow keys or use "[ ]" keys; Fly using Page Up/Page Down, Home to land
TRAVELLING Map crossing time reductions by walking: Pathfinder -3 days, Tracker -2 days, Guide -1 day
Stables only: Horseman -2 days
Ships only: Navigator -3 days, Sailor -2 days, Pirate -2 days
Explorer: -1 day for all methods of travel
Gate Master: Casts Master rank Town Portal 1x per day (2000 gp to join!)

Hirelings Merchant and Trader (no need to know Merchant skill) to get the best 300
skill costs and vendor prices. The Merchant skill hardly makes a
difference when training so only get the skill for one character (Cleric)
Train To Level 4: each character gains 15 skill points 180 26 Jan 9am
Note: Taking a pause between each level, e.g. to adventure from 9
am - 6 pm, takes the same number of days to train!

*Traditionally got Learning4 even though the payback time is debatable. Learning4 vs 1 gives only 3% more xp's for killed monsters only
Learning1 still gives 10% extra xp's for killed monsters; and avoiding Learning E saves 8k gp for the party
**Cleric Merchant4 only needed for entire game; no one else needs the skill!
Join Guilds Air (to be able to buy the Learning skill), Fire; eventually join the 100
others (Spirit, Body) but price is same in Harmondale
Sell After getting Merchant level 4: sell stuff (no need to ID Items) but
keep all shields and armors for battle against Dragon (will cast
vigorously at Cleric and break his shield and armor)
Keep all Blue and Red potions too
Keep also any scrolls of Fire Protection and Bless, etc. for upcoming
fight with Dragon
Potions Make a few normal level potions, mix potions to sell for 26 gp
Red Potion = Cure Wounds
Yellow Potion = Cure Weakness
Blue Potion = Magic Potion
*Red + Yellow = Cure Disease (Orange) (make several to sell)
*Red + Blue = Cure Poison (Purple)
*Yellow + Blue = Awaken (Green) 2300 gp
Buy skills If have money buy 2x Body Building (390/385) 775 1500 gp
Save 1000 gp at this point to buy 2x Chain skill in Harmondale
Buff Well near Inn, Day of the Gods pedestal, and the pedestal of fire
resistance near the Dragon's Cave

Dragon Cave Cast Wizard Eye and Bless Archer, save and then enter cave
Cleric will be the main target so change armor as it gets broken!
First run: go counter clockwise and let the Dagon fight the Rats; run
all way around the edge of the cave and seek refuge beside the exit
in the corner, facing east.
Note that the Dragon will naturally drift counter clockwise (CCW)
which leaves you safe to Save Game!
You cannot leave the dungeon once started (Dragon will be reset) so
save often in the cave
On the next sortie: repeat as above; from the "high" bump you
should be able to establish a rhythm of "turn-shoot-turn-run for 1/2
second-repeat" such that the dragon is always in transit when you
turn to shoot
Keep circling him and he will naturally move counter clockwise!
If you see him facing you, do not shoot! Turn and run for 1/2 second
then try again.
Retreat to the safe corner and save often i.e. after every successful
sortie!
Technique 2: Direct assault, then CCW around cave
From the safe corner run directly/slightly to the right of the dragon
and fire a couple of shots as you run past him. Keep running to the
north edge and then use the above technique by running around the
edge of the cave counter clockwise.
Then, run circles around him and establish a rhythm of "turn-shoot-
turn-run for 1/2 second-repeat" such that the dragon is always in
transit when you turn to shoot.
Retreat to the safe corner and save often!
Once fallen, multiple loot for an amulet, ring, belt or cloak of:
of the Eclipse (Mana regeneration) is the best item to get;
of Disarming skill, e.g. +21 or more is the next best item;
of ID Items skill, e.g. +23 or more is for convenience
Stop looting there!
Buy skills The Learning skill is much cheaper here than Harmondale so buy if
have money! Meditation is a bit cheaper (780 gp vs 850 in
Harmondale Mind Guild, but not really needed now)
Buy any other skills, especially Perception if not yet done although
they are the same cost as in Harmondale
Join Guilds Join Spirit and Body Guilds (same cost as in Harmondale) 100

Contest Top of the snowy hill: check Contest (INT this time), do later when
have 50 or more in the skill (can use buffs to reach 50 points)
Note the Contest skill and try not to get a repeat in other regions
Get Quest South village: Bartholomew Hum Q13 Q for MONK UPGRADE: Find
the lost meditation spot in the Barrow Downs/Stone City
Settings Do not use "ALWAYS RUN" mode: Unless you use the GrayFace
patch, this might slow melee fighting by 25% and ranged by 30%,
even if standing still in Always Run mode! Test to be sure
Blue PERS Castle (quest) Cast Bless and enter. Very carefully clear first area of Castle: move
Orange INT immediately to the right corner and then fight
Purple SP
Red MIGHT Use Perception skill to loot the junk piles (seven in total in the
Green END castle): can yield 2x decent chain armors (AC +12), a decent weapon
Yellow ACC e.g. Trident +6! The pile near the entrance can yield a Sapphire or
Emerald!
Acquire enough gold and buy Chain skill if not have already
Finalize Quest Inn: Butler 4k xp, gives MAIN QUEST (Q12): Talk to Dwarves in
Stone City in Barrow Downs to repair castle

South: click on 3rd and final Signal Fire causing lots of Goblins to
appear in the south-west area (fight later)
Optional: loot 1-2 chests guarded by a few Goblins in the south-east
corner
White Cliff Cast Bless and enter. Immediately take a few steps backwards to the
Caves (quest) cave's entrance to fight first three Trogolites. Carefully step forward
so that no more than three Trogolites attack at a time!
Clear the dungeon; get Arcomage deck in north *Arcomage deck
Find hidden area with three chests to the north of the north ledge
Note: Cannot fight Oozes (unless can do elemental damage)
Inn Play Arcomage: win 600 gp (tower reaching 35 or resources 100) 12k gp

you have a good items to boost Disarm skill. Must have a total of 24
points towards the Disarm skill to safely open the chest with the
Golem part

Explore lands Mid Island, middle chest: Golem part (Left Arm): must have Disarm 4, *Golem part 1

Return to the village. From the eastern side of the map (at the sign
post at the mid-east) use Jump to go due south until you find a
valuable wand on the ground (worth 2500 gp). Do not continue further
south or face certain death!

Very carefully and very slowly fight the Liches, Vampires and Queen
of the Dead, whom launch devastating Fireballs so you have to be
moving or hiding at all times
Only need to clear enemies around the Inn and Weapons store at this

a) First fights: Upon entering The Pit move immediately to one side
taking cover in the safe entrance area. Save game
b) Sortie 1: Run along the walkway forward a little ways to attract
some more enemies and retreat back to the safe entrance area to
