Process Control Course

The document announces a 3-day workshop on automatic process control systems for the Electrical & Electronics engineering department. The workshop will cover fundamentals of automatic control, latest instrumentation and process control technology, and hands-on experience with industrial devices. Students will learn about industrial control systems, instrumentation components, temperature, pressure, level and flow measurement controls, controllers like PID, process diagrams, and computer-based plant controls. Teaching methods include presentations, experimental kits, and hands-on experiments with process control modules to measure temperature. The workshop will take place in the Instrumentation & Control Lab over 3 days.

Workshop on Automatic Process Control System

Department: Engineering
Section: Electrical & Electronics
Venue: EEL7- Instrumentation & Control Lab
Date:

Automatic Process Control System

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Automatic control engineering has been a subject of interest to almost all branches of
engineering. The main objective of this course is to present the fundamentals of automatic
control in a clear and concise manner. This course covers the key aspects of latest
instrumentation, process control technology along with devices used for measurement and
control in industrial systems. The course is extensively hands on, giving students /participants
considerable practical experience of the devices typically found in industry.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:
On completion of the course, participants will be able to

Understand the working of industrial control systems.

Understand the operation of the entire control loop, with understanding the
instrumentation and control components.
Understand the temperature, pressure, level and flow measurement control system.
Understand the relevance of the controllers (e.g. P, I, D and PID).
Understand the sketching of process instrumentation and control diagram-simple
Process control system.
Describe the operation of the Computer based plant control system.
