Conservators Center Field Trip
Biodiversity, the great variety of living things, is the result of the evolution of living things in many
changing environments, and is vital to the survival of the human species.
Conservation of biodiversity should be the responsibility of every person.
Environmental influences have an impact in shaping the characteristics that you find in each animal.
The purpose of the expedition is to explore the natural world within the Conservators Center in order to
answer questions about the biodiversity of life, both fauna and flora.
Write details immediately. Memory will not give you the perception that immediate recording does.
Describe only what you see. Dont assume or give characteristics to an animal or scene that you think
ought to belong there. Likewise, dont neglect to record small movements or actions, even if you dont
think that they mean anything. (You may want to observe the specific activities of a particular animal
and compare it to another species.)
1- What are your expectations for this expedition?
3- Please record observations in your composition notebook. Do your observations lead to questions?
4- What patterns or similarities do you find in your observations?
5- How close do you think each habitat is suited to the animals natural habitats?
Please any specific examples good or not so good
6- What evidence did you observe that all organisms are dependent on one another?
7- Please tell me how you think that these animals behaviors differ from those in the wild.
8- In addition to physical characteristics, behaviors are also inherited as adaptations. Please
address how you think that animals kept in captivity are affecting their species evolution.
