YOU MUST BE ABLE TO USE YOUR GRAPHING CALCULATOR TO:



Find the zeros of a function
Find the relative minima and maxima of a function
Solve equations by finding the intersection points of two graphs
Identify intervals on which a function is increasing or decreasing
Solve word problems involving linear and quadratic functions, polynomials, rational functions,
exponential functions, and logarithms (especially problems involving interest, population, half-life, etc.)
Calculate measures of central tendency and variation
WITHOUT A GRAPHING CALCULATOR, YOU MUST BE ABLE TO:

Graphing ALL CHAPTERS
Graph parabolas, polynomials, rational functions, exponential functions, and logarithmic functions
Graph important parent functions, including square root and cube root functions
Apply graphical transformations to all types of functions

Chapter 1
Use point-slope form and slope-intercept form to write equations for lines
Find equations for parallel and perpendicular lines (also horizontal and vertical lines)
Determine whether a relation is a function, and identify the domain and range of a function or relation
Graph and evaluate piecewise-defined functions
Find the difference quotient for a given function
Determine whether a function is even, odd, or neither
Identify intervals on which a function is increasing, decreasing, or constant
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide functions
Evaluate the composition of two functions
Find inverse functions, test whether two functions are each others inverses, and determine whether a
function is one-to-one

Chapter 2
Put quadratic functions in vertex form by completing the square
Find the minimum or maximum of a quadratic function (the vertex)
Find the x intercepts of a quadratic function by factoring or using the quadratic formula
Determine the end behavior of a polynomial or rational function
Factor polynomials and find the zeros and their multiplicities
Perform long division and synthetic division on polynomials and apply the remainder theorem
List the possible rational roots and use them to find zeros and/or factor polynomials
Find complex roots of a polynomial
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide complex/imaginary numbers
Find the conjugate of a complex number
Evaluate powers of i, and simplify roots of negative numbers
Find all types of asymptotes, zeros, and other features of rational functions

Chapter 3
Evaluate exponential and logarithmic expressions
Solve exponential and logarithmic equations
Apply properties of logarithms
Solve compound interest, population growth, and other applied problems
Statistics
Find measures of central tendency mean, median, mode
Find measures of variation/spread (standard deviation, range, IQR)
Determine if an observation is an outlier
Construct a dotplot, stemplot, and boxplot for quantitative data
Construct a pie chart and bar chart for categorical data
