Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact

Rationale/Reflection
NAEYC Standard:
STANDARD 7: Early Childhood Field Experiences
Field experiences and clinical practice are planned and sequenced so that candidates develop the knowledge,
skills and professional dispositions necessary to promote the development and learning of young children
across the entire developmental period of early childhood in at least two of the three early childhood age
groups (birth age 3, 3 through 5, 5 through 8 years) and in the variety of settings that offer early education
(early school grades, child care centers and homes, Head Start programs). (NAEYC, 2010)

Brief Description of Evidence:

During the fall semester of 2014 my ECED 260 Early Childhood Professional course required us to create a
professional resume. My resume included a summary of my work history/responsibilities, accomplishments,
educational background, references and qualified skills that reflected on my professionalism in early
childhood.

Analysis of What I Learned:

Throughout this process, I discovered how to compose a resume that looked professional, organized and
included lots of detail; in addition to, I learned techniques to use to impress and capture the attention of
others as well as increase my chances of getting a job. While completing my degree and twelve years of
experience working with children, I have gained useful knowledge, professionalism, and skills necessary to
promote the development and learning of children of all ages.

This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the NAEYC Standard:

This artifact demonstrates that I am competent in my ability as a teacher to work with children from birth
age 7. My competence in this standard is proven by my ability to monitor students educational progress with
individual charts and files, create developmentally appropriate lesson plans and field trips that help stimulate
learning, socialization skills, and imaginative play, provide a safe, fun and educational environment, and
address accomplishments, behavioral or learning issues with parents.
