Remind students that word that have the same ending sound
are called rhyming words Play the following interactive video
for students as a review.

Students will be able to match rhyming words.
6 bags that contain rhyming pictures

Rhyming worksheets
Today we will learn new words that rhyme. Rhyming words are
words that have the same ending sound. Write the word cat
on the board, and then draw a picture. Give two examples that
rhyme with cat and also draw a picture.
Have students get into groups. Give each group a bag that has
twenty matching pictures. Students will spread out the pictures
and flip them face down. Students will then take turns flipping
over two pictures. If they match the students gets to keep the
two they choose. If not, they will put the pictures back and the
next student will go. Students will do this until all the matches
are gone or time runs out.
Give each student a rhyming worksheet. Explain to students
that they should cut out each picture and then glue the
rhyming pictures beside each other.

Assessment

Ticket out the door: Have students name a pair of rhyming


words.

ABC Center- Students will use the play-dough and letter blocks to
create words that rhyme.
Computer Center- Students will use computer to complete online
rhyming activities.
Rhyming Center- Students will work with each other to create new
rhyming words with the sight word for the week.

without your help! By the end of this year your child will be able to
identify print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics/word
recognition, and fluency! These are critical skills that will help your
child be successful in Kindergarten.

and go over the site words, that will be given out the beginning of
each week. I know with your help your child will surely thrive
throughout their Kindergarten experience.
