    Piteck Project 6 Reflection


    Statistics has been an interesting course. I am going into
    nursing and eventually want to pursue a doctorate degree. I
    know that this course will provide the basis for further statistic
    courses that I will be required to take to get a bachelors and a
    doctorate degree. This course will help with any research that I
    might do. Learning about appropriate sampling and reporting
    methods will help ensure that what work I do will be more
    accurate.
    This term project was a fun (and tasty) way to learn some of
    the basics about how to interpret statistical data. Applying
    formulas to the data that was collected by our class helped me
    reinforce the concepts as I was learning them. It was also
    helpful to work in a group setting and collaborate with other
    students.
    I see statistical data everywhere now. I know that it has always
    been around but I was not really tuned in to see it. I also
    question what I see and I do not assume it is accurate until I
    can do further research. Hypothysis testing! Skepticism is a
    healthy attitude when you look at statistical data because there
    are so many different ways to present data that is biased. It is
    important to learn how to verify what you see.
    With so much information available through technology,
    statistics will only become more and more valuable. And it is
    only as valuable as we are able to correctly interpret it.

    The Skittle colors for the class and my Skittle colors were a
    reasonably uniform in the amounts for each color. I was
    surprised that the bags of Skittles were not more uniform
    though. I would have thought that each bag would contain
    the same amounts of each color. I got a disproportionate
    number of greens. Yuck!
