b. The students are listed in alphabetic order on the chart. There were fifteen students
that could not explain why we celebrate Veterans Day at the beginning of the class.
By the end of the lesson, thirteen of the fifteen students met the objective. There
were only two students that could not tell me why we celebrate Veterans Day. There
were nine students that already knew a little bit about why we celebrate Veterans
Day, and by the end of the lesson they could tell me more facts about Veterans Day.

c. The data from this table shows that there was substantial progress from more than
half of the class. The books that I read and the posters that we filled out were
successful in keeping the students engaged in the lesson and fulfilling the objective.
The data also showed that the books and activities were not as effective with two of
the students because they still did not meet the objective.
B. Individuals:
a. Analyzing the data from the low, average, and high performing students will
help me to develop future lessons that will best meet the needs of all
students in the class. It will also determine which strategies work with each
skill level and which strategies do not.
b. Quantitative:
i. Low: This student was one of the fifteen students that did not know
why we celebrated Veterans Day. He answered two questions for the
during-assessment with 50% accuracy. He also answered one
question for the post-assessment which with 100% accuracy.
ii. Average: This student was one of the fifteen students that did not
know why we celebrate Veterans Day. He answered one of the
questions for the during-assessment with 100% accuracy. He also
answered one question during the post-assessment with 100%
accuracy.
iii. High: This student was one of the nine students that already knew
why we celebrated Veterans Day. She answered one question for the
during-assessment with 100% accuracy. She also answered one
question for the post-assessment with 100% accuracy.
Qualitative:
i. Low: This student particularly likes read-alouds so he was engaged in
the lesson because he was listening to me read Veterans Day. He
participated in the lesson by raising his hand to answer questions,
talking to a neighbor, and coming up to show us the answer for the
post-assessment. He did not seem to get frustrated or upset when he
answered questions incorrectly.
ii. Average: This student had a hard time focusing on the lesson so I had
to call his attention back several times throughout the lesson. He
participated in the lesson by raising his hand a few times to answer
questions, turn and talked to a neighbor, and answering postassessment questions.
iii. High: This student was engaged in the lesson because she was
challenged at the beginning to remember facts about the book. She
raised her hand every time I asked a question and participated in the
turn and talk discussion. She had a positive attitude and gave input on
several conversations.
