LT 0e Lecture

1) The document discusses graphing quadratic functions from their symbolic form. 2) It provides steps for graphing a quadratic function by using the vertex, axis of symmetry, and y-intercept. 3) An example problem demonstrates finding the vertex and graphing the quadratic function in standard form.

I can analyze and graph quadratic functions expressed

symbolically by using key features of the graph.

Goal: To graph a quadratic as a parabola in standard form in that:

Process:
1. The graph of a quadratic is symmetrical across the axis of
symmetry (x = -b/2a) which is the x-value of the vertex.
2. C tells us the y-intercept of the function.
3. Reflect across the axis of symmetry.
4. The domain are the x-values of the parabola and the range
are the y-values of the parabola.
Remember: If a is positive, the graph opens up; if a is negative, the
graph will open down.

another point on the graph and explain how
you found it.
Analyze
1.) Did you draw a picture containing the vertex?
2.) Did your picture include (5,9)?
3.) How does the vertex relate to the axis of symmetry?
Create a Plan
1.) First graph the given points as well as the axis of symmetry.
2.) Second, determine the relationship between the AOS and the given
point.
3.) Follow the same pattern to find the second point on your parabola.

If you follow
the pattern
you end up at
