    Feast a huge success!

    Notes
    RACK Project
    Each December we read the book Ordinary Marys Extraordinary Deed.
    This book is about one girls random act of kindness and how it sets off
    a chain reaction of good deeds. For the month of December I am
    challenging each family to do one RACK (random act of caring and kindness) Project. Click here to read the book online and see some ideas to
    help get started. I will be asking students to bring in the paper RACK
    form and send in (or email) any pictures of their RACK project. We will
    be making a movie of everyones RACK project that we can watch on
    the last day before break. ALL RACK PROJECTS ARE DUE BY
    TUESDAY DECEMBER 16th.

    FLEECE BLANKETS
    As a class we will be doing a class RACK project where we will be
    making fleece blankets to donate to Motts Childrens Hospital. It is
    easiest to make these blankets when the fleece is pre-cut and we have
    one adult (or more) to help with each blanket. Please click here to sign
    up to help purchase the fleece or volunteer your time to help students
    tie blankets on Thursday, December 11th. If your family would like to
    make an additional blanket to donate, please bring the blanket to school
    by Friday, December 12th and I can take all the blankets to Motts Childrens Hospital after school on the 12th.

    GRINCH DAY
    We will be celebrating Dr. Seuess The Grinch Who Stole Christmas on
    Friday, December 12th. Please be on the lookout for a sign-up to
    donate special snacks for this day! Students are encouraged to wear
    Grinch gear or red/green. Look online for easy, fun ways to dress up
    Grinch like.

    HOLIDAY PARTY
    We will be having our Holiday Party on Thursday, December 18th from
    9-11am. Please be on the lookout for a sign-up to volunteer for this
    fun day.

    HOLIDAYS AROUND THE WORLD


    In the month of December we will be learning about many holiday
    traditions around the world. We would love for you to come in and
    share any specials ways your family celebrates the holiday. Please
    contact me if you would like to come in.

    BIRTHDAYS
    We celebrate half birthdays, so we are starting to celebrate summer
    birthdays this month. Ill put in the Week at a Peek which days we
    will be celebrating birthdays in case you would like to send in a birthday
    book.

    Curriculum Corner
    Language Arts
    Reading: Students are learning to think and talk about the books that they
    read. You will start to see many sticky notes in the books that your child
    is bringing home. Ask about the sticky notes, they showcase what your
    child is thinking and feeling about what they are reading!

    Writing: We will pick a character this week and start to write a series.
    Students will need to use the same character and write book #2!

    Math
    We are continuing to work on Math Unit 4. This week students are
    working on doubles (2+2, 4+4, etc.) and combination of 10. If your child
    is not secure on his/her combinations of ten, play penny plate to work on
    the facts. If your child is successful with combination of 10, use 20 or
    more pennies to increase the difficulty.
