Enea Ose

Enea needed to expand their engineering team to support an ambitious product roadmap for their OSE Delta Operating System. A team of over 25 experienced embedded software engineers was assembled to help with tasks like porting the OSE to new architectures, driver development, adding new networking and file system features, and automating tests. The outsourced engineers worked directly with Enea teams and followed their development processes over a two year project to help offload work from Enea's internal R&D organization.

CHALLENGE
Enea needed a large team of skilled engineers to offload the development
effort for their OSE Delta Operating System product in order to support an
ambitious product roadmap.

SOLUTION
We and Enea jointly developed a plan to assemble a team of 25+ experienced embedded software engineers
with various expertises like driver and firmware development, file systems development, TCP/IP stack
development and RTOS knowledge in general. The new organization group mirrored the existing ENEA
R&D organization and was connected directly with existing Enea development teams. They were
immediately involved in on-going and coming projects.
The effort we participated included:
- Porting of OSE 5.x on different architectures (MIPS, MIPS64,
StrongARM, PowerPC);
- Driver optimization to use hardware acceleration;
- Multicore (SMP) support;
- Improving OSE driver architecture;
- Adding SCTP, VLAN, IPV6, PPP support to networking stack;
- Adding NFSv4 support to file system;
- Adding VFAT support to OSE file system framework;
- Extend automated test framework;
- Measuring and improving test code coverage;
- Various maintenance, optimization, test and automation work.
Our engineers followed the Enea R&D development processes and share the same rights and responsibility
as any Enea R&D engineer. Type of collaboration is time and material, the project is still running and life
expectancy is estimated at 2 years.
