Work Sheet Lesson 3

Phyllisia was being bullied by other children at school. Her account of what she told her mother is printed in a broken-up way to represent her accent and how the other children mocked the way she spoke. When she told her mother about the bullying, her mother felt upset and angry. Hearing her mother's similar accent made Phyllisia want to cry because it reminded her of the discrimination she faced and how her differences were used against her. The girls were bullying Phyllisia because of her accent and the bullying took both verbal and physical forms.
