There
are
improvements
about

EVALUATION
11
Note:
All
4
tables
constructed
above
are
approximations.
Air
conditioner
and
light
bulb
usage
for
one
day
is
assumed
to
be
12
hours/day
and
the
amount
used
is
based
on
the
average
weekly
hotel
occupancy/
70%.
The
hotels
current
usages
of
the
appliances
are
not
as
energy
conserving
and
eco-friendly
as
they
can
be
as
the
electrical
bill
is
very
high
compared
to
other
hotels.
Additionally,
based
on
the
hotel
inspection,
a
lot
of
the
models
are
outdated
and
do
not
have
new
technology
properties.
Currently,
the
hotels
electrical
source
is
from
fossil
fuels,
an
unsustainable,
non-
renewable
and
finite
resource.
The
hotels
electrical
bill
has
also
increased
by
3%
for
the
past
3
years.
However,
this
situation
can
be
significantly
changed
for
the
better.
Further
research
on
possible
product
improvements
and
implementations
should
be
conducted.
Concluding,
the
quality
and
the
electrical
consumption
of
the
equipment
can
be
greatly
improved.
If
enhanced,
impacts
on
the
environment
will
be
lessened
and
there
will
be
long-
term
economical
benefits.
This
report
will
be
concentrating
on
the
changes
that
the
hotel
can
make
to
the
guestrooms
since
guests
consume
a
lot
of
the
energy
and
there
are
varied
types
of
appliances
used
inside
a
room.
12
SOLUTIONS
In
order
to
solve
this
problem,
there
are
several
ways
the
hotel
can
improve
their
energy
consumption
by
implementing
the
following
ideas
in
the
guestrooms:
1. Change
of
current
light
bulb
model
to
Philips

2. Change
of
current

3. Change

4. Change

OTHER
SOLUTIONS
31
Other
than
the
five
products
proposed
earlier,
there
are
other
type
of
solutions
that
should
be
implemented.
Below
is
a
list
of
the
other
resolutions
or
behavioral
changes
that
are
believed
to
progress
the
hotels
plan
to
become
eco-friendly
even
more.
1. Staff
involvement
+
education
Since
the
staff
is
an
important
component
in
the
hotels
service,
they
should
be
aware
of
the
issue
and
become
driven
to
maintain
the
environment
and
understand
the
different
methods.
To
do
so,
this
may
include
lessons
from
professionals
or
possibly
staff
from
other
successful
eco
hotels
to
come
and
explain
the
process
and
specific
information
on
the
impacts.
2. Guest
involvement
+
enrichment
Educating
the
guests
is
also
the
key.
Even
though
the
majority
of
guests
stay
in
the
hotel
for
2-3
nights,
the
ecofriendly
practices
can
be
continued
at
home.
Guests
should
be
involved
in
conserving
energy
and
should
understand
the
different
methods
the
hotel
is
doing
so.
Additionally,
guests
can
lower
the
electrical
consumption
by
turning
off
appliances
when
not
in
use.
For
example,
there
can
be
small
wooden
signs
to
remind
guests
to
turn
off
the
air
conditioner
off
before
leaving
the
room.
Or
even
a
big
board
in
the
lobby
to
present
all
the
ways
the
hotel
has
been
implementing
better
products
and
sourcing
renewable
energy
and
the
ways
the
guests
can
actually
help.
If
guests
understand
the
hotels
environmental
commitments,
it
will
create
a
more
positive
reflection
on
the
hotel
in
which
may
lead
to
better
reviews,
recommendations,
perception,
etc.
32 OTHER SOLUTIONS
3. Public
Advertising
of
being
an
energy
efficient/ecofriendly
hotel
As
mentioned
earlier
in
the
section
above,
the
fact
that
the
hotel
is
becoming
more
eco
friendly
will
change
the
hotels
image
and
create
good
publicity
if
promoted
properly.
Since
the
eco
tourism
industry
is
on
the
rise,
guests
will
be
more
eager
to
support
eco
friendly
hotels
and
with
the
right
publicity,
the
public
will
become
aware
of
Evason
Huahin
and
its
sustainable
practices.
Advertising
methods
may
include
for
information
to
be
spread
on
the
hotels
website,
trip
advisor,
forums,
CNN
travel,
Yahoo
travel,
blogs,
Instagram,
etc.
The
effects
of
this
point
include
better
sales
and
a
more
respectable
and
well-rounded
reputation.
Additionally,
other
hotels
may
look
at
Evason
as
a
model
and
become
more
inclined
to
implement
similar
practices,
possibly
other
hotels
under
the
Six
Senses
brand.
Undoubtedly,
this
will
benefit
the
environment,
society,
economy,
and
future
circumstance
for
the
better.
4. Advertising
within
the
hotel
Advertising
within
the
hotel
will
improve
points
1
and
2
(staff
and
guest
enrichment)
as
everyone
becomes
more
aware.
A
possible
method
of
advertising
would
be
to
create
a
visible,
big
board
in
the
lobby,
the
pool
or
any
public
area
in
the
hotel
with
information
on
our
effects
to
the
environment,
and
the
solutions
that
Evason
has
implemented.
Additionally,
signs,
pamphlets
or
artwork
can
be
used
to
further
promote
this
idea.
CONCLUSION
33
By
implementing
these
four
products,
the
total
cost
reduction
per
year
is
1326181.6
baht.
Clearly
through
all
the
calculations
and
tables,
a
significant
amount
of
energy
and
money
can
be
saved.
Even
though
all
of
the
products
require
a
large
investment
for
it
to
be
used
in
all
of
the
guestrooms,
there
is
a
high
return
and
cost
benefit.
Additionally,
the
solar
roof
panel
should
be
put
in
serious
consideration
as
Evason
has
the
ideal
location,
building
and
weather
for
these
panels
to
be
placed
on.
SPCG
should
be
contacted
for
more
detail
and
information.
Not
only
should
the
products
listed
above
be
applied,
Evason
should
also
take
further
action
in
becoming
more
eco
friendly
(as
there
are
clear
benefits)
by
applying
more
sustainable
practices.
For
instance,
installing
a
small-scale
wind
turbine
or
even
changing
the
washing
machine
that
requires
less
power.
As
mentioned
earlier,
there
are
numerous
benefits
for
implementing
these
solutions
including
payback,
possible
publicity,
sales
created,
awareness
to
both
guests
and
staff,
lower
electrical
price
in
the
long-run
and
the
conservation
of
the
environment.
Most
importantly,
Evason
can
be
the
leading
eco-friendly
hotel
in
the
eco-tourism
industry,
as
other
hotels
will
also
follow
the
footsteps
into
creating
a
more
sustainable
environment.
