Bone Modelproject

The document describes a school project where students will work individually or with a partner to create a 3D physical model of a long bone. They will use materials from various stores to represent the major bone structures, including compact bone, spongy bone, periosteum, marrow, nerves, blood vessels, and more. Students must justify the materials chosen for each structure. They will complete worksheets to plan their project and present their model to the class.

Bone Model Project

Name:

For this project, you will be using your creativity to create a physical 3D model of a long bone.
Why a long bone? It has all of the important structures in it and it also gives you more to see than
another type of bone.
You have a few choices for this project.
Would you like to work alone or with a partner? You may choose ONE other person to work
with. Read the statement at the bottom of this page, fill it out, and submit it to the instructor.

Sooooo what are we going to do?!!?

Use materials from the grocery store, hardware store, craft store, or where ever to make a
model of a bone!
Must include the major structures defined below
Must be 3 dimensional (3D) which means a drawing or just paper is not acceptable
Justify (explain) what materials you used and why it was fitting for the bone
BE CREATIVE!

Required structures:

Compact bone
Spongey bone
Periosteum
Yellow marrow
Red marrow
Nerves
Blood vessels
Diaphysis
Cartilage
Medullary Cavity

Together as a table, brainstorm what you would like to use for each structure and explain why you
would that material in your model.

equally with my partner. I accept any praises and consequences we receive as a pair. I agree to
getting the same grade as my partner for this project therefor we will work together to achieve our
highest potential.

used for each structure and the name of the structure.
