Suggested learning and things to do outside.

Topic outline:
Literacy:
We will be introducing letters and sounds
like s, a, t, and p.
We will be practicing writing our names.
We will be talking about traditional stories,
including understanding the beginning, middle
and end.
Maths:
Practising counting to 5, 10 and 20.
Practising counting different objects (you
could count spoons, forks and knifes at
home).
Practising how to write our numbers (Your
class teacher has some special rhymes to help
you write them).
Understanding the world:
We will talk about Autumn and the changes in
the environment.
We will be exploring different materials and
how they change.
We will be learning all about our bodies and
how they work. Does your child know what all
of their body parts are?

Suggested books:
The Gingerbread Man, Goldilocks and the
three bears
Three Little Pigs, Cinderella
The Enormous Turnip, Sleeping Beauty,
The Frog and the Prince, Rapunzel,
Hansel & Gretel, Rumpelstiltskin,
Pinocchio, Jack and the beanstalk.

Go to the Park explore all of the


different things there. Looks at the trees.
How do they feel? What do they look like?
Lister Park Explore the play equipment.
Can your child balance, can they hop? Can
they kick a ball?
Eureka: Use different senses.
Bagshaw Museum: Loom at different
exhibitions and talk about what can be seen.
Can you question your children using Who,
What, Why, When and Where.

Your child will be sent a reading book to read at
home. When reading you can practise looking for
