ATS010 unit Power Supply

A 24VDC or 48VDC power supply with backup battery / battery charger is required. This
is used to power the ATS010 unit.

Auxiliary components
The following auxiliary components are employed, as shown in the wiring diagrams:
- Q61/1, Q61/2 protection devices
- K1, K2 contactors
- KC1, KC2, KO1, KO2 contactors

Q61/1, Q61/2 protection devices

These devices are used to protect:
- the input circuit of ATS010
- the motor operators or opening/closing coils of the circuit breakers, if they are powered
by normal and emergency lines (see circuit diagram "Without safety auxiliary power
supply")

How to select Q61/1 and Q61/2

Fuses or modular circuit breakers may be used, according to specific installation
requirements.
Fuses are selected as follows:
- if application is With DC or AC safety auxiliary voltage (like on page 3 and 4 of
diagrams), 30 mA fuses should be used.
- if application is Without safety auxiliary voltage (like on page 2 of diagrams)
fuses must be selected according to electrical data of motor operators or shunt releases
(see technical catalogue of relevant range of circuit breaker).
For line-to-line voltages below or equal to 400V, ABB modular circuit breakers can be
selected as follows:
- if application is With DC or AC safety auxiliary voltage (like on page 3 and 4 of
diagrams)
Q61/1 : 2-pole modular circuit breaker In=1A(C) ( S252 C1 )
Q61/2 : 4-pole modular circuit breaker In=1A(C) ( S254 C1 )

- if application is Without safety auxiliary voltage (like on page 2 of diagrams)

devices must be selected according to short-circuit current calculated at the main
breakers:
short circuit current
<= 7.5 kA

Q61/1 : 2-pole modular circuit breaker In=6A(C), S240 series ( S242 C6 )

Q61/2 : 4-pole modular circuit breaker In=6A(C), S240 series ( S244 C6 )

<= 10 kA

Q61/1 : 2-pole modular circuit breaker In=6A(C), S250 series ( S252 C6 )

Q61/2 : 4-pole modular circuit breaker In=6A(C), S250 series ( S254 C6 )

<= 15 kA

Q61/1 : 2-pole modular circuit breaker In=6A(C), S270 series ( S272 C6 )

Q61/2 : 4-pole modular circuit breaker In=6A(C), S270 series ( S274 C6 )

<= 50 kA

Q61/1 : 2-pole modular circuit breaker In=6A(C), S500 series ( S502 C6 )

Q61/2 : 4-pole modular circuit breaker In=6A(C), S500 series ( S504 C6 )

> 50 kA (**)

Q61/1 and Q61/2 : 6A fuses gG6 (total quantity: 6)

(**) NOTE: if allowed by application, 6A fuses gG6 can be used for lower short-circuit current too

K1, K2 contactors
These interlocked contactors are used only if application is Without safety auxiliary
voltage.
Their purpose is to switch power supply to the motor operators or opening/closing coils
of the circuit breakers between Normal and Emergency power supply.

How to select K1 and K2

ABB interlocked contactors (compact reversing contactors) VB6 are recommended as
K1 and K2. Contactors with at least two main contacts and one normally closed auxiliary
contact are required.
K1 and K2 are selected according to the operating voltage of the motor operator or shunt
opening/closing releases, as follows:
Contactor Type

ABB Code

110V...127V AC

VB6-30-01 110V...127VAC

GJL 121 1901 R 8014

220V...250V AC

VB6-30-01 220V...250VAC

GJL 121 1901 R 8010

KO1, KC1, KO2 and KC2 contactors

These contactors are used only if application is With DC safety power supply. Their
purpose is to control the motor operators and opening/closing releases.

How to select KO1, KC1, KO2 and KC2

ABB mini contactors BC6 are recommended for this application.
They must be selected according to the type of breakers and supply voltage as follows:
