OBJECTIVES
To:

Compare different HEVs like the Toyota Prius, Honda Civic and Chevrolet
Volt.

Study these vehicles on analytical parameters like architecture, HV


battery type and size, weight of vehicle and applicable vehicle drive
system.

Classify these HEVs in terms of non-technical aspects such as their price,


brand satisfaction and their date of entry into the market.

METHODOLOGY

Study and evaluate the performance characteristic curve of the seriesparallel (Toyota Prius), Parallel (Honda Civic) and Series (Chevrolet Volt).

Graphical analysis of the statistics data, Fuel economy, emission norms


certification and computing the percentage of exhaust gases in these
vehicles.

Pros and cons of the HV battery type, specific features such as


percentage recyclability, temperature management system.

Comparing and analyzing the Hybrid transmission system features like


Motor generators, Inverter, DC/DC converter and Power management
system.

Analysis of the crash test reports of these vehicles.

Analysis of the various modes of vehicle operation with stress upon any
exceptional achievements.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

To understand the merits and demits of the features and performance


characteristic curves

To develop an understanding about the future technology of the available


hybrid vehicles in the present day market.

To establish a relationship between the specification, requirements and


needs of these hybrid vehicle.

To gain knowledge about the best suitable vehicle according to the need
base of a consumers.
