1 - Overview of Analog Technology

The document discusses analog technology and provides definitions and examples. It defines key terms related to analog signals including cycle, amplitude, frequency, wave, and Hertz. It asks the reader to calculate the frequency of a wave with a cycle time of 1/8th of a second. Examples are also given of using analog signals to carry information for both digital and audio purposes.

Chapter 2: Analog and Digital Technologies

Section 1: Overview of Analog Technology

Coverage: In Class; Listen up 3 Minutes and 20 Seconds.
1. Give an illustration of the analog signal

2. Use the illustration to explain the following: Cycle, Amplitude and Frequency

3. What is meant by a wave?

4. What is meant by Hertz?

5. If the cycle time is 1/8th of a second, then calculate the frequency of this wave.

6. Give examples of the use of analog signals to carry information. Show one
example where analog signal is used for carrying information originally
represented in digital form and give another example where it is used for carrying
audio.
