Master Shot Exercise Evaluation

Students attempted a continuous scene exercise portraying a character as a monster coming up stairs and chasing someone, with slow movements, sounds of heartbeats and music. The exercise failed to include various shots or an enigma as planned, instead consisting mainly of improvised footage that did not achieve the desired result.

Master shot exercise evaluation.

Our task was to create a continuous scene without any cuts. It had to have included and enigma and
several various shots.
Our first shot was of Jasleen coming up the stairs. Her
movements were quite slow and her posture was
hunched over whilst both arms spread out holding onto
the handles. This was supposed to create an effect that
jasleen was a monster. The sounds were diegetic. They
were heartbeats and slow music. We managed to include
a longshot.

Here jasleen is portrayed as a monster as she seems to

be chasing the other person. Her movements were quite
slow almost like a zombie. The sounds used were zombie
growling, heart beat sounds and slow music that started
to build up. This again is a longshot.

Here she has just attacked the camera perfectly fitting her
monster look. Music dies down as it was trying to show
that something was going to happen.
Her posture is quite hunched over quite closed off.

The camera was attacked and was trying to create the

question of what happened. Sound was a heart monitor
going flat to show that they have dies. The monster got
them
Our exercise was a failure because we havent included
many shots. There wasnt an enigma code. The footage
used was not the desired footage. This footage was
mainly us messing about with the camera. The only
thing that worked was the continuous shot. We had a couple of idea when it came down to shooting
it. It simply did not work. For next time we need a realistic plan that was can execute out fully. We
need to make something that is simple to shoot but is clear and easy to follow. Something that
everybody can understand and when it comes to evaluating or analysing it would be a lot easier.
