Topic : Design and simulation of adaptive fuzzy control on the traffic light
Condition of existing transportation facilities in Kendari Southeast Sulawesi
recent years entered a level of complexity that is increasingly difficult. The number of
motor vehicles is increasing every year. Meanwhile, the support and the capacity of the
highway did not develop. In the end, some intersection in Kendari city began
experiencing congestion.
To overcome these problems, can be made a system that can set the length of
traffic lights based on the density of each of the existing lanes at intersections. With
fuzzy logic approach, data is sketchy (not sure) is processed so that it will produce a
definite output.
Dynamic signal control is a complex phenomenon that includes both increasing
intersection capacity and decreasing delays at the same time. New methods such as
fuzzy logic and artificial intelligence are recommended for use in dynamic signal
control [1].
The fuzzy signal controllers perform the optimization task by minimizing the
waiting time of the vehicles and maximizing the traffic capacity. [2]
The application of fuzzy control technology to achieve the traffic lights control
system not only breaks the traditional mechanical models but also manages to simulate
intelligence control system in which the traffic is directed by the police, making
possible signal conversion for different situations and optimum delay time of green
light. It is proved that the fuzzy control system can effectively reduce the delay time
length of waiting vehicles [3]
