Accommodations,
Modifications
ADHD- Provide the child with a stress ball so he or she can
squeeze it. Also, I will have the child seated in the front row away
from windows because what is going on outside can easily
distract the student. Provide step-by-step instructions on how to
draw and fill out the Bar Graph to the ADHD student and give him
continuous reassurance that he or she is doing a good job.
Deaf Student- Pictures of how to draw a bar graph and how to fill
out a bar graph with step-by-step instructions all in pictures with
words.
Below Reading Level- I will go over the bar graph vocabulary
words as a class as well as provide pictures of how to draw a bar
graph and how to fill out a bar graph with step-by-step
instructions all in pictures with words. Also, I can sit down with
the student for a few moments and read over the instructions
with him or her to make sure he or she understands it.

What is the importance of recording information?
Objective Statement
Show a picture of a dining table. Say: this is a table. This is also
a table. This is a table that we will use to collect and organize
data.
Display a pre-made "Things A Bar Graph Must Have
Checklist". Read the chart that bar graphs must have a title, x-
axis label, y-axis label and value.
Tell students that the x-axis runs horizontal. Make a horizontal
line with your finger. The y-axis runs vertical. Make a vertical
line with your finger. Tell students let me see you make a
horizontal line. Let me see you make a vertical line.
Explain that we can get the labels from the table. A good title
would be Our Favorite Sport. A good name for the x-axis label
would be Names of Sports. A good name for the y-axis label
would be Number of People.
Ask everyone that said ____ was his or her favorite sport to
stand. Repeat until all results have been recorded in the table
with tally marks.
Model for students how to create a bar graph using the collected
data.
