Overview:
If a SF/CPM card is to be removed from a chassis, the RESET button on the card should be pressed prior to extracting the card.
Impact:
In order to remove a SF/CPM gracefully without any service impact in a redundant environment, it is highly recommended to press the
RESET button on the card before removal. This is recommended for extracting both the active and the standby SF/CPM.
Action To Be Taken:
If at any point a SF/CPM removal is required, follow the steps below:
1. Press the RESET button on the card to be removed.
2. Physically remove the card as soon as all LED's on the cards front panel, except the power LED, are turned off.
3. Do not wait longer than one minute, which is approximately the time it takes for the card to reboot.
