Events such as switchovers and system changes generate events on the DNX that can be monitored in real time, displayed historically, or sent to an external syslog server. The monitor feature shows the 15 most recent events updating every 10 seconds, while the display option allows viewing up to 2000 past events. Module X Event
EVENTS ON THE DNX
Events are generated by switchovers, test commands, system
changes, etc.
Event can be monitored
Event can be Displayed
Event can be sent to a SYSLOG Server
MONITOR EVENTS
Allows for pseudo real time viewing of events
15 most recent events are displayed
Display is updated every 10 seconds
Circular buffer is used, a new event is added to top of display, oldest
event is taken off the bottom of the display

Audit Trail tracks changes made to the system
Log can be cleared
DISPLAY EVENTS
Allows viewing of historical event log
Display up to the 2000 most recent events
Display is not updated automatically, user must refresh display to
update it

Audit Trail tracks changes made to the system
Log can be cleared
Next Page and Previous Page allow for movement through the
Event Log
Log can be filtered, allows a keyword search of the Event Log
CONFIGURING A SYSLOG SERVER
SYSLOG allows event log contents to be sent to a PC or
Workstation
PC or Workstation must be running SYSLOG software
You must specify:
IP address of syslog server
Unique DNX identifier
