Dear Parents, As we enter into this week, we have a lot going on and coming up throughout the month. We have our annual ITBS testing that I am hoping we will be able to complete Friday so we can get right back on track next week. Because of this very time restricted schedule, it is vital that all students are present and on time for the entire week. As I mentioned last week, it is also important that we do everything we can to enable our students to be in the best mental and physical state to succeed. Getting a good nights sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, and getting to school on time are simple and important ways to set students up for success. Due to the rigorous testing the students will be partaking in this week, I will be limiting the amount of homework sent on a daily basis. Although we will be creating a vocabulary list for the week, the students will not be required to complete homework or take a test on Friday on those words. However, for all students who have a C+ or lower for their vocabulary/spelling grade, they will have the option to complete the regular three homework assignments to receive extra credit in vocabulary. This option is ONLY open to students who have a C+ or lower and they must complete ALL 3 assignments in order to receive any extra credit for the week. We finished up our Digestive system projects on Friday last week, and we will be doing one final assessment on the Digestive system and then moving forward to the muscular system. I sent home a letter last week to the 4 th grade parents from the new math intervention teacher: Mrs. Cheryl White. Mrs. White is actually a returning teacher here at OLSH, as a few years ago she used to be the 5 th grade teacher. We are so lucky to have her rejoin our staff and she will be working explicitly with the 4 th
grade class for Math. She will be in charge of assigning homework, all 4 th math grading, and also has access to ClassDojo and will continue their behavior grades in her class as well. Also, this Friday is picture day! Students need to be in their full dress uniform and if you would like to order pictures your order forms, complete with payment must be turned in by Friday morning. I have had a few scholastic book orders already turned in, and if you would still like to place an order, you may do so until Friday. You may order either online using the link from our class website, or you can turn in your orders to me with the cash payment. Also due Friday, are donations for the fall festival, which is next Sunday, Oct. 26 th . Our class must bring in a 12 pack of regular Coke per student, as well as a $20.00 donation to purchase the food for our booth at the festival. Please turn these in by Friday. Please e-mail me or message me on Dojo for any questions or concerns.
