This week we begin Unit 2-Week 1. Tara and Tiree.

Please also continue to encourage your child to keep

working toward their reading goal. They should have almost
reached their goal by now in order to enjoy the ice cream
sundae party. Each student knows exactly how many more
books they need to read in order to participate in the ice
cream sundae party. Please continue to remind your child to
bring home library books every night so that they can read
them at home and return to school the following day and take
a test on those books. October 30th is the end of the first
quarter when we will have the reading goal icecream sundae
party as well as the class auction. We will also be carving
pumpkins that day after estimating their weight and circum-
ference. We will need four good sized pumpkins for this ac-
tivity. If you can donate a pumpkin, we would very much ap-
preciate it. Please send me an email letting me know that you
will be bringing in a pumpkin. You may bring them in anytime
prior to October 30th.
We often use dry erase paddles and dry erase pens
to respond to questions in the classroom. The pens do not
last long especially when the students decide to doodle with
them. The children very much enjoy using them so please
make sure that your child has a good supply of these pens on
hand to use here at school. They can be bought at the PX but
often the PX runs out of inventory so it might be a good idea
to stock up on a few packs of 4.
