Author Kelsey Macke and her indie-pop band, Wedding Day Rain will
preview their upcoming album, IMOGEN UNLOCKED, which is the
soundtrack to Kelsey Macke's YA novel, DAMSEL DISTRESSED
debuting October. In addition to the concert, well talk about what
youth can do to shed light on mental health issues that affect at
least 1 in 4 Americans.

Mandatory Monthly Meetings
VolunTEENs on the Frisco Advisory
Board will attend mandatory
meetings once a month during the
school year. Dates for these
meetings are provided on the
application and given to teens
selected to serve on the Frisco
Advisory Board.

Earning Service Hours
The Frisco Advisory Board meets
once a month during the academic
school year. VolunTEENs on the
Frisco Advisory Board will be able to
earn service hours in a variety of ways.
Opportunities will include attending
Advisory Board meetings, writing book
reviews, taking program surveys, and
participating in service drives.

How to Apply
Applications are available in the
summer months for the following
school year. Applications for the
2014-2015 Frisco Advisory Board
can be picked up in the Teen Room
or online at www.friscolibrary.com/
volunteen-program. The application
is in two parts with the first part due
no later than August 4th.
The VolunTEEN Program is
comprised of FAAB, or Frisco Action
& Advisory Boards. It is a community
service program that offers middle
and high school students, grades
6-12, an opportunity for civic
involvement at Frisco Public Library.
Students will receive credit hours for
school or service organizations for
their active involvement
in the program.

STUDENTS
AGES 1618 ONLY

Earning Service Hours
VolunTEENs will be able to earn
service hours by volunteering for
scheduled shifts. Tasks assigned
during these shifts typically include
assisting circulation with sorting and
returning items to shelves, counting
program tickets, and general
program assistance.

Scheduling Shifts
VolunTEENs will be able to sign up
for shifts online. During the school
year, shifts are available in the
evenings and on weekends. During
the summer, shifts are available
during day time, evening, and
weekend hours. Teens are asked to
volunteer at least once per month to
retain their position in the program.

steps listed under the Frisco Action
Board Application Process. Qualified
applicants will be contacted via email
about signing up for an orientation
session. Applicants must attend an
orientation session before being
accepted to the Frisco Action Board.
