How To Make A "Plane Section" in STAR-CCM+

The document describes how to create a plane section in STAR-CCM+ to cut a model. Users right click the Derived Parts folder and select New Part > Section > Plane. They then define the input parts to cut, such as hot and cold water pipes. A new node appears under Derived Parts where users can adjust the plane section properties and display scalars or vectors like temperature and velocity cut across the section.

How to make a Plane Section in STAR-CCM+

In STAR-CCM+ a Plane Section can be made that cuts your model. We did cover
how to generate Plane Sections in the training. The method in doing so is
given below.

In the STAR-CCM+ tree structure on of the folders is named Derived Parts.
Right click this folder and choose New Part > Section > Plane.

You can define the Input Parts to be both the hot and cold water, if the
solid pipe was also explicitly modelled, then it can also be added.

A new node appears under the Derived Parts node, which you can visit and
adjust the properties that define the part.

This Plane Section can now be used to display any Scalar (in your example
temperature) or Vector (in your example velocity).
