This student learned that many countries in South Asia, East Asia, and the Pacific World are very poor while studying world geography, contrary to their initial assumption that these areas were mostly middle class. They believe the high levels of poverty are largely due to overpopulation, and that the countries would likely be in less poverty if their populations were slightly lower.

World Geography: South Asia, East Asia, and the Pacific World Reflections
I learned a lot in studying the countries of South Asia. While
researching our countries, I learned that in the Asian countries, most are very poor. I had always assumed that the countries in those areas were mostly middle class, not in poverty. I think that this fact is because the countries are all very over populated. If the number of people living in the countries was slightly lower, then the countries would probably be in less poverty.
