What Memorize is about in 2027, everyone is implanted with a
chip that records everything they see. It is the end of judicial doubt,
but not of crime.
Written & Directed by Eric Ramberg and Jimmy Eriksson
Year 2012
Genre Sci-Fi, Crime
Duration 7 mins
Camera Work
Establishing shot shows that the film is set in a futuristic city. The
blue lighting connotes coldness this suggests that the future has gone
downhill. The bright screens on the buildings suggests that this film
is set in the future as they are on the buildings in New York.
Close up shots show important elements in the film using little props.
POV (Point Of View) shot suggests that they are looking through
someone elses eyes.
Editing
The information at the start gives a brief overview of the film.
Special effects are used to give it the Sci-Fi look.
Fast transitions creates fast paced action which connotes danger as
the enemy id runner for their life.
Sound
Non-diegetic sound the music is stings which creates suspense.
Police radio in the background suggests that they are targeting a
person for a crime. This also helps to know what is going on in the
film.
Diegetic sound sound effects are used to enhance the look of the
sci-fi reader.
Mise-en-scene
An abandoned building is the place of action. The graffiti suggests
that it is abandoned as it has been vandalized.
Microchip reader makes the film look futuristic because of the
function that it has in the film and the microchip in the back of the
head.
Their black clothes connotes danger this suggests that they are
criminals.
The guns also connote danger and violence which suggests the world
is still full of crime.
Holograms give it a sci-fi look and add to the feeling that it is set in
the future. The holograms also connote intelligence as it is an
advanced piece of technology.
I like the use of the holograms because it is a simple way to make the
characters look as if they are in a futuristic world. The use of the cold
colours makes it look like as if the world has gone downhill.
