First Problem

This document provides instructions for calculating cost, schedule, and time variances for a test marketing project at week 6 using two different methods. Method (a) uses the 50-50 rule to calculate variances based on percent completion, while method (b) uses the actual percent complete column, assuming time proportionality for planned value but considering the workers' actual percent complete for earned value. The calculations will include CPI, SPI, CSI, ETC, and EAC.

For the following test marketing project at week 6:

a. Ignore the far right % Complete column and using the 5050 percent completion rule for PV and
EV, calculate the cost, schedule, and time variances. Also calculate the CPI, SPI, CSI, and the ETC and
EAC.
b. Repeat the calculations in a, but now using the % Complete column. Assume that the PV values are
based on time proportionality but the % Complete values for EV are from the workers actually doing
the tasks.

Duration Percent
Activity Predecessors (weeks) Budget Actual Cost Complete
a: Build items - 2 300 400 100
b: Supply stores - 3 200 180 100
c: Create ad program a 2 250 300 100
d: Schedule ads a 5 600 400 20
