Knot Tying Activity Name:

For this activity be sure to read and follow directions, label answers, and show work.

Needed: String Ruler Graph Paper Calculator

Step 1: Using the table below, tie the appropriate number of knots in your string and measure (use
centimeters). Fill in the table. (table will have num of knots, length, change in length). Use centimeters!

Step 2: Find the average change in length of the rope.


Step 3: Write an equation to represent the number of knots and the length of the rope. State what
variables you use and what they stand for. Hint: the average change in length will be used.
