Proportional control is a type of closed-loop feedback control where the output is adjusted by multiplying a constant value, or gain, by the error amount. The proportional control band determines the percentage change needed in the measured value for the correcting device to change by 100%. Proportional control uses feedback to continuously calculate error values and adjust the output accordingly to keep the process variable at the setpoint.
