Born around 569 B.C.E, in Samos, India, was born a great greek philosopher and mathematician who clearly made a mark in ancient history. All his life he had known that everything was made of numbers from the roots. He loved music, almost as much as he did math. He liked to connect his music with his math.Pythagoras noticed that vibrating strings harmonious tones when the ratios of the lengths of the strings are whole numbers, and that these ratios could be extended to other instruments. Pythagoras was very grateful about his educators of his childhood to bring him to such a successful civilization. In around 513B.C.E, he heard his teacher was dying and quickly came to her rescue to nurse her. Unfortunately there is not much to know about Pythagoras contributions and discoveries to math. Even though not knowing much about his mathematical achievements, we still know that he was a very important gure of the development of mathematics. Without him, there would be no such thing as the pythagorean theorem, and nding the missing length of any right angle triangle would be far harder than it now is with his great discovery. In conclusion, we should all give Pythagoras a thanks, for making such a great mark in history and nding such great keys to math. Pythagorean Theorem The pythagorean theorem is where 3 variables (a, b , and c) are combined to make a right triangle. Usually in math terms, you will use the pythagorean theorem. The hypotenuse of a triangle, usually referred to as c, will most always be used with the particular equation a + b = c . 1. / " # 0 " & 1 " ", " # ", " & 1 " -,( # -,( & 1 "
