Test Chapter 11
Basic Properties of Circles

Name: ______________________ Class: ____________ ( ) Result: ____________
In this test, unless otherwise specified, O is the centre of a circle.

1. In the figure, M is the mid-point of chord AB. If
MOB = 30, find OBM.

2. In the figure, R is a point on the chord PQ. If PQ
= 8 cm, OR = 3 cm and OR PQ, find the
radius of the circle.

3. In the figure, M is the mid-point of chord AB
and N is a point on CD such that ON CD. If
OM = ON and CD = 10 cm, find the length of
AM.

~ 2 ~
4. In the figure, PQ and RS are two parallel chords
such that they are 16 cm apart. If PQ = RS =
12 cm, find the radius of the circle.

5. In the figure, AC = BC and AOB = 150. Find
CAO.

6. In the figure, AB is a diameter of
the circle. AB is produced to D
such that AC = DC. If ABC =
78, find BCD.

~ 3 ~
7. In the figure, chords AC and BD intersect at
E. If CAD = 38 and AEB = 88, find
ACB.

8. In the figure,

AD AB and CBD = 48.
If 3 : 2 :

CD AD , find BDC.

~ 4 ~
9. In the figure, the diameter AB is perpendicular to the chord CD and cuts
CD at M. If AM = 9 cm and CD = 6 cm, find the length of BM.
(5 marks)

10. In the figure, AOD is a diameter of the circle. If ADE = 62 and
AOB = 30, find x and y.
